Southington Knights Tackle & Cheer 

We are proud to announce the recent investments we have made to ensure our league is providing its players and families with the safest tackle & cheer experience.

EQUIPMENT INVESTMENT 

  1.   Purchased for entire league:  5 Star Virginia Tech Rated   –  Xenith X2e plus Helmets
  2.   Purchased for entire league:  Guardian Caps… Soft shell helmet cover  that can absorb 33% of the impact in collisions
  3.  State-of-the-art LEV sleds and a Powerline sled, the same ones used by High School, College and NFL teams across the US 
  4.   Purchased tackle wheels to teach shoulder tackling (part of USA Football) by taking the head out of the tackle.

POLICY & LEAGUE MANAGEMENT

  1.   Added 2 critical positions to the Knights Executive Board (Safety Director & Player Agent – see by-laws for duties)  
  2.   Implemented an Injury reporting system and a return to play protocol
  3.   Reduced the amount of high contact exposure in practice by minimizing full speed tackling time
  4.   100% of all Tackle Coaches are USA Football Heads UP tackle & concussion certified – includes Sudden Cardiac Arres, Heat & Hydration, Equipment Fitting, Blocking & Tackling & Concussion
  5.   Minimum – 2 coaches per team are CPR & AED certified
  6.   Added Knights lightning & heat condition stop play policy
